Common Causes and Symptoms

Elbow instability (SMILE ELBOW)

Symptomatic Minor Instability of the Lateral Elbow occurs due to

repeated or long-duration activities that load the outer side of the elbow, especially when the elbow is slightly bent and the forearm is turned inward. It can gradually stretch key supporting ligaments When these ligaments become loose, they provide less stability.

Signs and Symptoms

  • Loose feeling in elbow

  • Pain with movement

  • Reduced strength

  • Clicking sensations

Tennis & Golfers Elbow

These conditions typically result from repetitive arm movements during sports or work activities. Improper technique in racquet sports or golf can strain tendons. Occupational activities involving repeated wrist and arm motions, particularly with force, can lead to tendon inflammation and microscopic tears.

Signs and Symptoms

  • Pain on outer/inner elbow

  • Weak grip strength

  • Pain when lifting objects

  • Stiffness in elbow joint

Repetitive Strain Injuries(RSI)/ Tenosynovitis

Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) / Tenosynovitis occur due to overuse or repetitive movements of the wrist, hand, or forearm. They lead to irritation and inflammation of the tendons and their sheaths, causing pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Common in repetitive tasks, poor posture, or vibration-related activities.

Signs and Symptoms

  • Pain and tenderness in the affected area
  • Swelling and inflammation
  • Stiffness, especially in the morning
  • Difficulty moving the affected joint

Wrist Instabilities

Usually caused by traumatic injuries like falls or sports impacts that damage ligaments. Repetitive stress from activities requiring frequent wrist movement can gradually weaken supporting structures. Previous injuries without proper healing and genetic factors affecting ligament laxity increase susceptibility.

Signs and Symptoms

  • Clicking or popping sensation

  • Reduced grip strength

  • Pain with movement

  • Feeling of looseness

1.5 years ago, I started experiencing pain in my forearm. I visited an orthopedic, and I was diagnosed with tennis elbow and golfers elbow. After undergoing more than 50 sessions in other physiotherapy centers in Bangalore, the pain would consistently return. I was told I wouldn't be able to perform my daily tasks. Due to the incorrect diagnosis, my hand was never healed. One of my colleagues referred me here. Here at Movementology, Dr. Padmanaban diagnosed me with "VALGUS ELBOW INSTABILITY" and assured me not to worry about it. He initiated strengthening exercises for my hand. Dr. Santhanapandian was my physiotherapist, educating me about valgus elbow instability. After 10 sessions with Dr. Santhanapandian, I can now lift weights without pain and perform my daily tasks normally. Thanks for the accurate diagnosis and guiding me through the process.

This place is magic. I have been playing badminton professionally ( was the former jr national champion ) and I do love working out at the gym. I had a shoulder dislocation injury due to which I couldn't play badminton and lift weights. I heard about this clinic from a few other physiotherapists. I came to Banglore for this treatment and did a 6 week course which made my shoulder much stronger. I started lifting weights and I am planning to go back to cochin and start playing badminton. Special thanks to Padmanabhan sir and Pandian for taking care of me. Cheers

I went to Padmanaban Movementology for a finger ensure. I was not able to use the finger for more than a month. Then I went there and it took just 4 sessions to bring back all the movements and strength to that finger. Dr VirupakshaGouda were very helpful. He used to explain what is the impact of each and every exercise in detail and also taught me some exercises to stretch my hamstring muscles and strengthen the glutes. I highly recommend Padmanaban Movementology. Thanks ,Sachin

1.5 years ago, when my golfers elbow was at its worst, I could not even open a water bottle with my left arm. It's been a long and winding road to rebuild my strength and mobility and Dr Padmanabhan and Dr. Pandian's advice and rehab program over the last 7-8 months have proven invaluable in this journey. Looking forward to even greater PRs and highly recommend Dr. Padmanabhan and Dr. Pandian for any niggles or persistent injuries you may be dealing with.

Rehab for 4.5 months with Pandian for my ulnar collateral ligament strain in the elbow. It has been super helpful in strengthening my forearms, wrist, grip, shoulders and now I can lift much heavier weights than I did before my injury thanks to Pandian and dr. Padmanban. Highly recommend.

My daughter is a Kalaripayattu practitioner. She had been facing a recurring injury to her ankle, which was limiting her ability to not only practice, but also to do outdoor activities like trekking, cycling and walking on the beach. We initially went to Dr Ayyappan (Sports Medicine with Manipal Hospitals), who diagnosed her with the 'os trigonum' condition. We were referred to Dr Padmanaban for physio and sports rehab. After the first consultation, she was put on a training program designed to strengthen the muscles around her ankles in order to prevent the injury from reoccurring. Doctor designed a rehab program specifically keeping in mind the requirement for her sport. After a 4 month period where she trained twice a week at the center in Koramangala (with supplemental exercise at home), her condition has been successfully cured. She is now able to perform all of the activities including Kalaripayattu without pain. Big thanks to Dr Padmanaban and her physiotherapist Pandian for being so helpful and patient throughout this process.

I suffered a meniscus tear in my right knee, as a professional cricketer I had to recover as soon as possible because the season was about to start. DR. Padmanaban looked through the problem and gave a rehab schedule. The physios over there looked after my injury very well, especially DR. Joshitha, who was so supportive and took care of my rehab very well, my recovery would not have been possible so soon without DR. Padmanaban and DR. Joshitha. The clinic is well equipped and spacious. After one month of rehab, I'm back on the cricket field again with no issues with my knee, credits to padmanabans movementology. Highly recommended place.

I had a hairline fracture above my left elbow, though it’s a minor injury because of negligence and cast for prolonged period of time, I ended up losing my normal range of motion and developed a hell a lot of stiffness I got to know about Dr Padmanabhan through reference, the consultation with him immediately put me at ease. I got to work with Diksha who was intuitive and empathetic about my pain tolerance level and my mindset towards the recovery, was able to quickly come up with a customised plan for me with the help of Dr Padmanabhan. It required mobilisation , strengthening exercises, bit of swimming etc., Though I was up and down with my home exercises because of my hectic schedules and social life, she did exceptionally well during the clinical sessions and always been consistent on follow ups to keep me on track So, I started to see good progress in first 2 weeks and got back my entire functional range of motion in 5 weeks. Apart from their extraordinary service, I also recommend this place for the friendly vibe the entire team offers❤️

One of the finest physiotherapy clinics in India. I had laberal tear in my left shoulder. I could not lift my hand due to surgery and was almost in a stiff position. I visited Dr Padmanaban for post-surgery rehab. He checked my shoulder range and strength and provided the rehab plan. Dr Pandian did my physiotherapy and improved my range, strength and stability with proper exercises. he used to check my strength using a dynamometer to measure my progress. With shoulder strength, they improved my core and back strength which gives more stability in my overall body. I regain the strength in my left shoulder within a few months. They completed my rehab by measuring the overall progress using the Endurance test, CKCUET test, and SSASP test. I appreciate their detailing and execution of the rehab plan. Thank you so much Dr Padmanaban and Dr Pandian for all the support and consultation. Also, I appreciate Dr Abin and Dr Sushmita's support and assistance. I would highly recommend Dr Padmanaban and their team for physiotherapy

I have had elbow impingement issues since 2019. I saw multiple orthopaedists and physiotherapists, had x-rays, and nothing helped. I recently developed scapula dyskinesia due to guitar playing and was referred to Dr. Padmanaban's clinic by my online fittr coach. Dr. Padmanaban was able to diagnose both my scapula issue and my elbow impingement. He then appointed Dr. Veeru to treat me, and in just six weeks, Dr. Veeru accomplished what so many orthos and physiotherapists could not. My elbow range of motion is now 90% greater than it was when I first started, and my scapula problem is almost completely gone. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire team. Very highly recommended!!

I had a rotator cuff injury almost 4 months back, one month just passed away visiting different ortho doctors who could not diagnose the real problem. After almost 1.5 months, when I was sick of the pain, a friend suggested to consult a sports physiotherapist, that is when I came across PMA, I was looking for genuine reviews and also researched about Dr Padmanaban and his background in sports physiotherapy. I must say he is a combination of clinical expertise, patient centric approach and empathy. Dr Padmanaban then asked Dr Morzia Khatoon to treat me. Dr Morzia's dedication to patient's well-being is truly commendable. The 2 months pain was gone in less than 3 weeks. Dr Morzia's positive and never give up attitude is infectious and I am deeply impressed by her ability to tailor treatment plans to each patient's specific needs depending on how their body is responding to treatment. I must also mention that the entire team of physiotherapists have great team camaraderie. Your teamwork and communication make it clear that you're not just colleagues, but a supportive family. Your united efforts contribute to a thriving and successful physiotherapy team. Thank you Dr Padmanaban, Morzia and entire team :) Will I go back there and bring more people ? Hell Yes!!! ...

I developed achilles tendonitis issue which was causing severe discomfort post my long distance runs. Based on a friend's reference I consulted Dr. Padmanaban. He diagnosed the problem instantly and advised strengthening sessions with physio Santhanapandian. He allowed me to continue my runs at a reduced pace and mileage during this period, which was a big relief. With around 10 sessions with Santhanapandian, I've now almost recovered and able to go back to my normal pace and could do couple of half marathons without pain. Santhanapandian keeps checking the progress and is always reachable.

Tore my labrum in the shoulder and underwent surgery; I did my physiotherapy here and the staff was hands down the most considerate, cooperative and helpful people I've come across in the healthcare industry. I had a properly structured plan of rehab and went from barely being able to externally rotate my shoulder to being able to deadlift, do pull ups and dips, without any pain or discomfort. If you've undergone surgery or have injured yourself,I'd highly recommend that you pay them a visit.
